Desde el 2001, más de 15 comunidades en Vermont han participado en el programa. En el 2012 la Universidad de Vermont (UVM) comenzó un proyecto de colaboración con Casa Pueblo y el Centro para la Conservación del Paisaje (CCP) para implementar un programa en Puerto Rico, empezando con la comunidad de Adjuntas.
El modelo de PLACE integra el paisaje físico con la ecología y la cultura para conectar la comunidad a su entorno por un proceso a largo plazo:
